One Community Song

After the devastation of the Black Saturday Bush Fires. The school looked to enhance the sense of community in Toolangi and Castella. After discussion it was determined to do this through song. The teachers, students and the wider community were involved, with support from a professional song writer, in developing the the lyrics. Children at school travelled to Melbourne to a recording studio where the song was recorded. A launch at the school followed. The community song is now sung at school events and community functions. We are very proud of what we achieved

One Community

In the foothills of the Great Dividing Range
Where the morning mist melts in the sun’s warm rays,
Where the patchwork ends and the forest starts
You’ll find us here with open hearts,
A wondrous place of awe and mystery.

Our early settlers made this place their home
Where the fruits of the earth have always grown.
With city noise so far away
Lyrebirds call and the tall trees sway
The wind and mountains are our family.

Chorus 1

We live together, learn together, work together in harmony
On the mountains, in the valleys we join hands as one community.
Where streams form mighty rivers and stars shine bright at night
We lend a hand to build this land and make our futures bright.

Spoken Rap

Throughout the years there’s been joy and tears, Toolangi is our home.
Castella shares in harmony and friendships live and grow.
A land of beauty, a land of pain, surviving bushfires and the rains
No matter what the future brings we know our gardens will always sing.

Chorus 1 repeat

We live together, learn together, work together in harmony.
On the mountains, in the valleys we join hands as one community.
Where streams form mighty rivers and stars shine bright at night
We lend a hand to build this land and make our future bright

Chorus 2

We live together, learn together, work together in harmony.
On the mountains, in the valleys we join hands as one community.
We understand our history and we know what it’s worth
Let’s all join hands and make a stand for our heaven on earth.
